You must have been amazed to see TV artists do some of the most amazing mind reading tricks right in front live audience and impress them. Sometimes it can get really freaky that someone really knows what you are thinking but if you know a few tricks, it can be a lot of fun. There are a lot of common mind reading tricks; mainly card tricks, telling numbers or names or a specific word that a spectator is thinking of. If you want to amaze your friends with your powers just remember these golden rules.
The first thing to know is that there is no such thing as reading minds. All the mind reading tricks that are performed are well… TRICKS! Usually the magician claims that he can feel the vibes or waves coming out of your mind and he can sense them. Well that’s all said to convince you that what is happening is real and he can actually read minds. Honesty, with all the experience I’ve had, these are merely mental illusions.
Another important thing to remember is that you do not have to learn a whole lot of mind games. Keep it low and simple. Pick 5-7 good tricks and learn them to perfection.
Practice! After you’ve decided which tricks to go with, practice them extensively to the level of perfection. Your body posture and body language, expressions, and the flow of your trick should feel natural and smooth. ‘Practice makes perfect’ they say, and its true!
Then comes your personality and timing. Playing mind reading tricks involves a lot of bluffing and your character should look convincing. You don’t need to wear a black hat and a gown; you have to prepare a magical atmosphere with your persona before you actually perform.
How well you do the mind reading trick depends on the story you make up to convince the audience. Make up a good story and a set of dialogues. Practice saying them in front of a mirror so you know what expressions you are giving. Keep two more versions of your story conceived in your mind; the solid and convincing your story is, the better your trick will be.
Lastly, perform in front of a larger audience after you have practiced it in a smaller audience. This way you will gradually gain perfection in what you do. Knowing what exactly to do and how actually to do it is the biggest skill you need to show your magical side to others.
